Over 5,000 years of history await you on this free tour of Aachen, the capital of Charlemagne's empire and home to the oldest cathedral in Northern Europe.

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet at Marktplatz, the heart of Aachen. We will start this tour by discovering the important monuments of the city of Charlemagne.

We'll stop in front of the Town Hall, an impressive Gothic style building built between 1353 and 1414. It has served as a key political and social meeting place in the city.

The tour continues to the Aachen Cathedral, a structure that began construction in 787. It is the first World Heritage Site in Germany and the oldest cathedral in Northern Europe.

Next, we'll admire the various fountains of Aachen, highlighted by the Elissenbrunnen, from the 18th century, and the Puppenbrunnen, known for its unique bronze puppet design.

We will also view the popular Klenkes sculpture, which features a raised little finger, symbolizing unity among Aachen residents.

Finally, we will visit the Money Fountain, concluding our tour after 1 hour and 45 minutes of sightseeing in Aachen.
