Kumasi Day Trip
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Accra to start this excursion to Kumasi.
Our first stop will be at the Manhyia Palace Museum, where we'll learn about the history of the Ashanti people by watching a documentary. We will visit the original rooms and chambers of the palace to understand the significance of the Ashanti Empire.
Afterwards, we'll visit the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site to learn about the founding history of the Ashanti nation, including the immovable sword of Okomfo Anokye, which has remained lodged in the ground for nearly 300 years.
You'll have time for lunch on your own before we stop at the Prempeh II Museum, a replica of an Ashanti Empire chief's house, showcasing ceremonial clothing, jewelry, protective amulets, personal items, and royal regalia. We'll also visit the Kejetia Market, one of the largest in Ghana.
On the way back to Accra, we'll visit the Bonwire Kente Weaving Centre, the origin of the popular fabric known as "kente."
After 15 hours of excursion, we'll return to your accommodation in Accra.
