Almendralejo Guided Tour

We'll meet at the selected time at the Palacio de Monsalud to begin this guided tour of Almendralejo, the capital of the Extremadura region of Tierra de Barros.

To start, we'll admire this impressive palace, which is one of the most emblematic buildings in Almendralejo, linked to the writer José de Espronceda.

Next, we'll visit the Huerta Montero Prehistoric Sepulchre, a unique burial site over 4600 years old, used for collective burial and worship during the Copper Age.

We will then enter the historic center of Almendralejo to learn about the history of this Badajoz city, founded by the Order of Santiago after Al Andalus. We'll visit the Gothic Church of Nuestra Señora de la Purificación, observing its Plateresque façade and Herrerian-style tower, along with the Crucified Christ by Juan de Ávalos and a modern replica of the main altarpiece, destroyed in the Civil War.

Our tour will also include the Monsalud Palace, highlighting its connection to José de Espronceda.

Lastly, we will visit the Teatro Carolina Coronado, a modernist theater dedicated to the poet from Almendralejo, concluding the three-hour tour.
