Bordeaux City Bike Adventure
Our journey begins at the appointed hour on Rue du Jardin Public in Bordeaux. Following a quick orientation session, we will embark on our cycling adventure through Bordeaux and its prominent neighborhoods within the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
The first stop is the Palais Gallien, where the remnants of the ancient Roman amphitheater await, ideal for a glimpse into history and capturing memorable photographs. En route to Notre-Dame Church, we’ll pass by the notable Galerie des Grands Hommes.
Next, we will arrive at the magnificent Saint-André Cathedral, recognized as a World Heritage Site. Here, we’ll pause to delve into its fascinating history before heading to the Tribunal Judiciaire, a stunning example of Neoclassical architecture found in the heart of Bordeaux.
As we cycle towards the iconic Grosse Cloche, one of the city’s most cherished symbols, we will venture into the historic Saint-Michel district, which lies along the banks of the Garonne River. In this area, the architectural highlight is the Saint-Michel Basilica, a prominent Flamboyant Gothic masterpiece and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Our ride will continue as we cross the Pont de Pierre, the oldest bridge in Bordeaux, heading toward the Quai des Queyries, where breathtaking views of the riverbank await.
From there, we will make our way to Darwin, a trendy spot filled with street art and inviting shops. You’ll have 20 minutes of leisure time to relax here. Afterward, we will resume our bike tour, progressing towards the Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas, the tallest suspension bridge in France, followed by a stop at the futuristic Cité du Vin to admire its striking architecture.
The concluding part of our journey will take us along the Quai des Chartrons, through the vibrant Rue Notre-Dame, and down the elegant Cours Xavier Arnozan, where we’ll pause one last time to admire the refined 18th-century structures.
After covering a distance of 14 km (8.6 mi), we will return to our starting location, bringing this engaging 3-hour bike adventure to a close.
