Escape the hustle of Rome for a day and explore two remarkable historic estates in Italy on this excursion to Tivoli. From the vast remnants of an imperial palace to the most renowned Renaissance gardens in the region, this experience promises to leave a lasting impression.

Excursion Overview

We will convene outside the Castro Pretorio metro station at the arranged time. Once everyone is gathered, we will board an air-conditioned bus for the journey that takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to reach Tivoli, where an enriching exploration of Italy's historic treasures awaits.

The first destination is Hadrian's Villa (Villa Adriana), a remarkable estate commissioned by Emperor Hadrian during the 2nd century AD. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was once more expansive than the heart of imperial Rome and is regarded as one of the most opulent residences of the ancient era. Our exploration will take us through the remnants of palaces, temples, baths, theaters, and pools, with our guide illuminating the world of the emperor.

Before we proceed, you will have about an hour of free time in Tivoli to enjoy a leisurely lunch at your own pace.

In the afternoon, we will visit Villa d'Este, an exquisite example of late Renaissance design and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once belonging to Cardinal Ippolito II d’Este, son of Lucrezia Borgia, this villa is renowned for its stunning terraced gardens and remarkable water features. You'll have the chance to appreciate the Oval Fountain, the Neptune Fountain, and the breathtaking Avenue of a Hundred Fountains, which stands out as one of Italy’s most iconic gardens.

At the conclusion of our tour, we will return to Rome via bus, finishing the day trip at our original meeting point after approximately 7 hours.

Enhance Your Experience with Lunch

If you wish to elevate your excursion with a delightful meal, you may opt for the lunch option, allowing us to savor a traditional Italian lunch at a local restaurant in Tivoli between visits to the two villas.
