On this guided tour of the French Quarter of New Orleans, we will explore the oldest part of the city and its colonial buildings.
Description
We will meet at 815 Toulouse Street and start the guided tour of the French Quarter. We will discover must-see spots and learn about the history of the Vieux Carré. The tour covers the Mississippi River and notable buildings that predate the country.
Our first stop will be Bourbon Street, famous for its bars spanning 13 blocks. The guide will share the city's history and recommend the best bars, restaurants, and hidden gems.
Next, we will stroll along Royal Street, known for its art galleries and antique shops, and pass by the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, built in 1822-1823 and once the residence of the first licensed pharmacist in the US.
We will also see St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest Catholic church in the US, and the Cabildo, historical seat of power in Louisiana.
The tour will address the architecture's cultural impact, the influences on styles, and significant contributors to the city's food, music, and festivals. We will discuss Voodoo, Mardi Gras, and other local customs, answering your questions along the way.
After approximately 2 hours, we will conclude the tour at Jackson Square.
