Mount Etna + Volcanic Caves Hiking Tour

On this tour from Catania, we will hike around Etna and its volcanic caves to explore one of the most famous volcanoes in the world and learn about volcanology.

Hike Details

At the designated time, we will meet at Piazza Paolo Borsellino and board a bus to drive through wild landscapes towards Mount Etna.

After about an hour's drive, we will reach the slope of the volcano and start our 2.5 hour trekking route. This route showcases the incredible landscapes of Europe's highest active volcano, including secondary craters, expanses of black lava, and volcanic sand deserts.

During the trek, we will cross forests, see secondary craters, walk through black sand deserts, and view high ravines alongside ancient lava flows.

We will spend half an hour exploring one of the many volcanic tubes of Etna. This underground experience will provide insights into volcanology.

After leaving the cave, we will return to the bus for the journey back to Catania, concluding the activity after a total of 5.5 hours at the starting point.

Sunset Hike

Optionally, you can select the evening hike starting at 4:30 pm to experience Mount Etna at sunset. This adventure offers the chance to witness the sunset over the volcano and explore the unique landscapes.
