On this free tour of Oslo, we'll take you on a journey to discover the Norwegian capital's main historical and cultural sites!
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll begin our free walking tour of Oslo at the Tiger Sculpture in Jernbanetorget Square. Oslo is nicknamed the 'Tiger City', and this sculpture symbolizes the capital's spirit.
We will then visit Rådhuset, one of Oslo's oldest streets dating back to the 1620s, notable for its historical architecture and connections to Oslo City Hall.
The tour continues to the vibrant Aker Brygge district and then to the Akershus Castle and Fortress, built in the 13th century. This structure has served as a military base and a prison.
Next, we will explore Oslo City Hall, where the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony takes place every 10th of December, revealing the history behind the prize.
Following this, we will visit Oslo Cathedral, a Baroque-style cathedral from 1697, and stroll along Karl Johans Gate, Oslo's main street.
We will then reach the Oslo Opera House, a modern architectural landmark completed in 2008, known for its unique design and accessible rooftop.
As we conclude our tour, we will pass by the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget), built between 1861 and 1866, representing Norwegian democracy.
