An abandoned city and one of the most impressive cisterns in India are the two attractions that await you on this day trip to Fatehpur Sikri and Chand Baori from Agra. Ready to be amazed?

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Agra and then set off to Fatehpur Sikri, driving for about an hour to get there. Welcome to the best-preserved ghost town in the world. We'll start touring this UNESCO World Heritage Site and admire how its buildings combine Indian and Arabian architecture.

Fatehpur Sikri was inhabited for less than 20 years due to water scarcity and was built by the Mughal emperor Akbar in the 16th century. However, its monumental legacy has survived. During the visit, we'll see the impressive Buland Darwaza Gate, the mosque, and the tomb of the saint Salim Chishti, among other landmarks.

After exploring Fatehpur Sikri, we'll travel for two hours to Abhaneri to visit the famous Chand Baori cistern, one of the most picturesque places in Rajasthan. We'll delve into the 9th century origins of this significant water reservoir and discuss why this area hosts the deepest stepwell in India.

Finally, we'll return you to your hotel in Agra after 8 hours, or if preferred, we can conclude the tour in Jaipur with a drop-off in the city center.
