An abandoned city and one of the most impressive cisterns in India are the two attractions that await you on this day trip to Fatehpur Sikri and Chand Baori from Agra. Ready to be amazed?

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Agra and set off to Fatehpur Sikri, about an hour away.

Welcome to the best-preserved ghost town in the world! We'll start touring this UNESCO World Heritage Site and admire its buildings that combine Indian and Arabian architecture.

Fatehpur Sikri was inhabited for less than 20 years due to water scarcity. Built by Mughal emperor Akbar in the 16th century, this monumental legacy has survived to the present day.

During the visit, we'll see the Buland Darwaza Gate, the mosque, the tomb of saint Salim Chishti, and other important landmarks.

After exploring Fatehpur Sikri, we'll travel for two hours to Abhaneri to visit the Chand Baori cistern, a magical and picturesque site in Rajasthan.

We'll discuss the origins of this 9th-century water reservoir, which has become one of the most famous monuments in India, and learn why this area was chosen for the deepest stepwell in the country.

Finally, we'll return you to your hotel in Agra after 8 hours, or if you prefer, we can end the tour in Jaipur and drop you off in the city center.
