Valley of the Temples Tour

On this tour of the Valley of the Temples, we will explore ancient Akragas and its significant buildings. We will meet at the ticket office of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento at the scheduled time to begin our visit to one of Italy's best-preserved archaeological sites, recognized as a World Heritage Site.

During the tour, we will explore twelve temples, two agoras, and a bouleuterion, the meeting place of the boulé or council. This area was the center of ancient Akragas, the first Greek settlement in Agrigento. We will learn about the history and architectural features of these structures that influenced poets, philosophers, and painters.

Our first stop will be the Temple of Juno, followed by a visit to the Temple of Concordia, where we will also see the remnants of an early Christian necropolis. We will then pass by the Temple of Heracles and the remains of the Temple of Zeus, focusing on the classical mythological divinities associated with these sites.

The tour will conclude approximately 2 hours after it begins, marking the end of our journey through the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento.
