On this tour of the Valley of the Temples, we will explore life in ancient Akragas and visit significant historical buildings.

Valley of the Temples Tour

We will meet at the ticket office of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento at the scheduled time to begin our tour of this World Heritage Site.

As we walk through the site, we will see twelve temples, two agoras, and a bouleuterion, where the council met, representing the center of ancient Akragas, the first Greek settlement in Agrigento. We will explore these structures that inspired many historical figures, learning about their history and architectural features.

Our first visit will be to the Temple of Juno, followed by the Temple of Concordia, where we will also observe an early Christian necropolis. We will pass the Temple of Heracles and the remains of the Temple of Zeus, highlighting classical mythological divinities.

After exploring the Valley of the Temples, we will complete the tour approximately 2 hours after our start time.

Language

The activity is generally led by an English-speaking guide, but occasionally the tour will be conducted in both English and Italian.
