Valley of the Temples Tour

We will meet at the ticket office of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento at the scheduled time to begin our exploration of this World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in Italy.

The valley features twelve temples, two agoras, and a bouleuterion, which served as the meeting place for the council. This area was the center of ancient Akragas, the first Greek settlement in Agrigento. We will visit these structures and delve into their history and architectural details.

Our tour will start with the Temple of Juno and we will proceed to the surrounding walls. Next, we will visit the Temple of Concordia, including the remains of an early Christian necropolis.

We will also see the Temple of Heracles and the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, highlighting the classical mythological divinities tied to these sites. The tour concludes approximately 2 hours after we begin.

The tour is usually led by an English-speaking guide, though it may sometimes be conducted in both English and Italian.
