Why Visit the Fortress of Aigues-Mortes?
Explore the stone fortress of Aigues-Mortes at your own pace and immerse yourself in the history of Medieval France. Constructed in the 13th century, these ramparts were the departure point for the French Crusades and remain well-preserved. The fortifications consist of over 5,300 feet (1,634 metres) of walls connecting twenty towers, including the Tour de Saint Louise and Tour de Constance, used to imprison French Protestants in the 17th century.
Opening Times
The fortress is open daily:
From May 2 to August 31: 10 am to 7:00 pmFrom September 1 to April 30: 10 am to 5:30 pm
The final admission is 45 minutes before closing. Ticket office hours are from 10 am to 1:00 pm and 2 pm to 4:45 pm. These hours are subject to change.
Special Times
On December 24 and 31, the monument closes at 2:30 pm.

Free entry is available on the first Sunday of the month from January to March, November to December, and the 3rd weekend in September. To obtain free admission, visit the ticket office and present a certifying document.
