Description
Explore the imposing stone fortress of Aigues-Mortes at your own pace and immerse yourself in the history of Medieval France. Constructed in the 13th century, these historic ramparts were the departure point for the French Crusades, and they have remained incredibly well-preserved over the past eight centuries.
The Aigues-Mortes fortifications consist of over 5,300 feet (1,634 metres) of defensive stone walls connecting twenty towers, including the Tour de Saint Louise and the Tour de Constance , used to imprison French Protestants in the 17th century.
Opening hours
The fortress is open daily:
From May 2 to August 31: 10 am to 7:00 pmFrom September 1 to April 30: 10 am to 5:30 pm
The last access allowed is 45 minutes before closing time. Ticket office hours are from 10 am to 1:00 pm and from 2 pm to 4:45 pm. Hours may change.
Special Hours
On December 24th and 31st, the monument closes at 2:30 pm.
Skip-the-line
This ticket allows you to avoid queues at ticket offices, but a line for security checks will still apply.
Free admission
Admission is free for:
Young people from the EU aged 18 - 25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.
Free admission is also available on the first Sunday of the month from January 1 to March 31, and from November 1 to December 31, as well as on the 3rd weekend in September. To obtain a free ticket, visit the ticket office and present a certifying document.
