Delve into the stunning stone fortress of Aigues-Mortes at your leisure and connect with the rich history of Medieval France. This remarkable structure, built in the 13th century, served as a pivotal point for the French Crusades and has remarkably retained its grandeur over the last eight hundred years.

The fortifications of Aigues-Mortes extend over 5,300 feet (1,634 metres) of robust stone walls and include twenty towers, among which the Tour de Saint Louise and the Tour de Constance stand out as noteworthy sites. These towers have a profound history, having functioned as prisons for French Protestants during the 17th century.

Opening Hours

The fortress welcomes visitors daily during the following times:

From May 2 to August 31: 10 am to 7 pmFrom September 1 to April 30: 10 am to 5:30 pm. During this time, access to the Tour de Constance or the ramparts will be available from 4:30 pm onward, based on your choice.

Please note that the last entry permitted is 45 minutes prior to closing.

The ticket office hours are from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 4:45 pm.

Keep in mind that these times may vary and are subject to change.

Special Dates

On December 24 and 31, the site will close early, at 2:30 pm.

Complimentary Admission

Entry to the Medieval towers and ramparts of Aigues-Mortes is complimentary for the following groups:

Young individuals from the European Union aged 18 to 25 yearsChildren under 18 years, irrespective of their nationality

Additionally, access is free for all on the first Sunday of each month from January to March and from November to December. Free entry is also available on the third weekend of September.

To obtain the complimentary admission mentioned above, you must visit the ticket office on-site and present a valid document proving your eligibility for a free entry.
