Askja Volcano Day Trip

At 8 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri and travel inland to visit the Askja volcano.

During the tour, we will experience the breathtaking scenery of northern Iceland as we drive through the Lake Myvatn area to the Hrossaborg crater. We will take the mountain road leading to Herðubreiðalindir, a green oasis in a barren volcanic landscape.

We will explore this unusual location and learn about the legend of the outlaw Fjalla-Eyvindur and his connection to Herðubreiðalindir. Afterward, we will continue through Iceland's lunar-like terrain, which NASA used for astronaut training.

Upon arriving at Askja volcano, we will walk along the trails surrounding its craters and lakes, stopping at Askja and Viti. Viti is smaller and formed inside the crater. Additionally, you can enjoy a bath in a hot springs lagoon to relax.

Before returning, we will visit the canyon of the dragons, or Drekagil, situated between striking black walls.

Finally, we will make our way back to Akureyri, concluding the excursion at 8 pm.
