Diamond Circle Tour of Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn & Ásbyrgi

Visit some of the incredible natural areas in the Diamond Circle on our tour of Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn & Ásbyrgi. We'll explore one of the most famous routes in North Iceland and see breathtaking views.

Tour Details

Your hotel in Akureyri will be the pickup location for our tour of the Diamond Circle. The itinerary includes visits to Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn, and the Ásbyrgi Canyon.

The first stop will be Goðafoss, known as the "Waterfall of the Gods".

Next, we will explore Lake Mývatn and its volcanic region, including Hverir, the most active geothermal area in Iceland. Visitors will notice a strong sulphur smell and steam emissions. The Viti crater near Krafla Volcano will also be included.

The tour continues to the Dettifoss Waterfall, where visitors can witness the powerful 200 cubic metres of water falling per second.

Afterward, we will traverse the Jökulsárgljúfur Canyon towards the Vesturdalur Valley, home to the Whispering Cliffs (Icelandic: "Hljóðaklettar").

We will visit the horseshoe-shaped Ásbyrgi Canyon. Legend has it that Pagan gods once gathered here. Following this, there will be free time in the colourful town of Húsavík before returning to Akureyri, completing our tour in a total of 9 hours.
