Diamond Circle Tour of Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn & Ásbyrgi

Visit some of the incredible natural areas in the Diamond Circle on our tour of Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn & Ásbyrgi. We'll explore one of the most famous routes in North Iceland and see breathtaking views.

Tour Details

Having picked you up from your hotel in Akureyri at the designated time, we'll set off on our tour around the must-see spots in the Diamond Circle: Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn, and the Ásbyrgi Canyon.

The first stop will be Goðafoss, the "Waterfall of the Gods". Although it's not the biggest, this waterfall is known for its beauty.

Next, a visit to Lake Mývatn and its volcanic area will include Hverir, the most active geothermal area in Iceland, where you will experience the intense smell of sulphur and steam. We will also visit the Viti crater near the Krafla Volcano.

Our tour will then take us to the Dettifoss Waterfall, a highlight featuring 200 cubic metres of water falling per second.

Continuing through the Jökulsárgljúfur Canyon, we will reach the Vesturdalur Valley and see the Whispering Cliffs, known as "Hljóðaklettar", with distinctive volcanic formations.

Finally, we will visit the horseshoe-shaped Ásbyrgi Canyon, followed by some free time in the colourful town of Húsavík for refreshments. We'll then return to Akureyri, concluding our tour after a total of 9 hours.
