The Best of Northern Iceland: Godafoss & Lake Mývatn Tour from Akureyri
At the designated time, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri for an exploration of Godafoss Waterfall and Lake Mývatn, driving through extraordinary locations in northern Iceland.
En route to Godafoss Waterfall, you'll enjoy the natural beauty surrounding us. Upon arrival, the grandeur of this waterfall, standing twelve meters (40 feet) high and stretching thirty meters (100 feet) wide, will be revealed. Godafoss holds historical significance as the starting point of Iceland's Christianization, known locally as "the waterfall of the gods."
Next, we will explore the volcanic region around Lake Mývatn, traversing ancient craters formed 2,300 years ago, a lava labyrinth, and peculiar rock formations. Highlights include the preserved cave, cracks at Grjótagjá, mud pots of Hverir, and lava structures of Dimmuborgir. Panoramic views of the Akureyri fjord are also available. Optionally, you may indulge in the natural baths of Mývatn.
After eight hours of exploration, we'll conclude the tour by returning you to your hotel, leaving you with memories of an unforgettable Icelandic adventure.
