The Best of Northern Iceland: Godafoss & Lake Mývatn Tour from Akureyri

At the designated time, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri for an exploration of Godafoss Waterfall and Lake Mývatn. We will drive through extraordinary locations in northern Iceland.

En route to Godafoss Waterfall, you will admire the natural beauty. Upon arrival, the grandeur of this waterfall will unfold before you. It stands twelve meters (40 feet) high and stretches thirty meters (100 feet) wide, as the Skjálfandafljót River cascades amidst a striking volcanic landscape. Godafoss is also historically significant as the starting point of Iceland's Christianization, referred to as "the waterfall of the gods."

Next, we will explore the volcanic region around Lake Mývatn. Here, we'll traverse ancient craters formed 2,300 years ago, visit a lava labyrinth, and encounter unique rock formations. We will explore a preserved cave, witness the cracks at Grjótagjá, and marvel at the mud pots of Hverir and the lava structures of Dimmuborgir. The panoramic views of the Akureyri fjord from this vantage point are stunning. Optionally, you can indulge in the natural baths of Mývatn.

After eight hours of exploration, we will conclude the tour by returning you to your hotel, leaving you with memories of an unforgettable Icelandic adventure.
