The Best of Northern Iceland: Godafoss & Lake Mývatn Tour from Akureyri

At the designated time, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri to explore Godafoss Waterfall and Lake Mývatn. We will drive through extraordinary locations in northern Iceland.

En route to Godafoss Waterfall, the natural beauty surrounding us will be evident. Upon arrival, you will witness the grandeur of this waterfall, regarded as one of the most beautiful in the country.

Godafoss stands at twelve meters (40 feet) high and stretches thirty meters (100 feet) wide, with waters cascading dramatically from the Skjálfandafljót River amid a volcanic landscape. Godafoss holds historical significance as the starting point of Iceland's Christianization, known locally as "the waterfall of the gods."

Next, we will explore the volcanic region around Lake Mývatn, traversing ancient craters formed 2,300 years ago, visiting a lava labyrinth, and encountering unique rock formations. We will tour a preserved cave, observe the cracks at Grjótagjá, and marvel at the mud pots of Hverir and lava structures of Dimmuborgir. The panoramic views of the Akureyri fjord are notable, and there is an option to enjoy the natural baths of Mývatn.

After eight hours of exploration, we will return you to your hotel, concluding an unforgettable Icelandic adventure.
