Lake Mývatn Day Trip

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri and set off in our minibus towards Lake Mývatn. On the way, we'll travel along the shores of Iceland's longest fjord, Eyjafjördur, appreciating the natural beauty of the area.

The first stop will be the Goðafoss waterfall, significant for its historical context. In 999 AD, a pivotal event occurred here when pagan idols and relics of the ancient Viking religion were thrown into the waterfall.

We will then proceed to the Lake Mývatn region, known for its incredible volcanic landscape. This includes traveling through wetlands and observing the mouth of the Laxa River, which flows into the lake. Bird enthusiasts will enjoy seeing a wide variety of avian species during the trip.

Next, we'll walk along the Dimmuborgir trails within the lava fields formed two millennia ago, showcasing a variety of rock formations. Throughout the day, we will explore other fascinating sites such as Hverarönd and Grjótagjá Cave, one of the most beautiful caves in Iceland.

Finally, we'll conclude the tour at the departure point, 5 hours after starting the activity.
