Explore a beautiful lake and its surroundings on our Lake Mývatn Day Trip. You'll venture to a volcanic region in northern Iceland widely considered to be one of the natural treasures of the country.
Lake Mývatn Day Trip
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri and set off in our minibus towards Lake Mývatn. On the way, we'll travel along the shores of Eyjafjördur, Iceland's longest fjord.
The first stop will be the Goðafoss waterfall, a significant historical site where, in 999 AD, pagan idols and relics were thrown into the void.
Next, we'll continue to Lake Mývatn, known for its volcanic landscape. We'll observe the wetlands and the mouth of the Laxa River, rich in avian species.
We will then walk along the Dimmuborgir trails, exploring historical lava fields and rock formations. The day will also include visits to Hverarönd and Grjótagjá Cave, noted for its natural beauty.
Finally, we'll conclude our tour 5 hours after it begins at the departure point.
