Lake Mývatn Day Trip

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri and set off in our minibus towards Lake Mývatn. We'll travel along the shores of Iceland's longest fjord, Eyjafjördur, appreciating the natural beauty of the area as we proceed to the lake.

The first stop of the day will be the Goðafoss waterfall, a site of historical significance. In 999 AD, a key event occurred here when pagan idols and relics of the ancient Viking religion were cast away.

Afterwards, we'll continue to the region of Lake Mývatn, noted for its volcanic landscape. We'll travel through the wetlands and observe the mouth of the Laxa River, which flows into the lake. Bird enthusiasts will have the chance to see a variety of avian species during this trip.

Next, we'll walk along the trails of Dimmuborgir. As we navigate through these lava fields formed two millennia ago, you'll admire the diverse rock formations. Throughout the day, we'll visit other interesting places such as Hverarönd and Grjótagjá Cave, recognized for its beauty.

We'll conclude our trip by returning to the departure point 5 hours after the start of the activity.
