Embark on a journey through Alandroal with our guided tour, exploring its landmarks from the impressive castle to the history of a Spanish noble lineage from the Ancient Regime.

Tour Highlights

Gather at the Tourist Office in the village, located near the border with Spain, to commence the guided tour of Alandroal, focusing on the majestic Castle.

The Castle of Alandroal features the church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, showcasing baroque architecture in its single hall, and is also the final resting place of Diogo Lopes de Sequeira, who served as the governor of Portuguese India from 1518 to 1522.

Adjacent to the Castle is the magnificent Fonte das Bicas, an 18th-century baroque marble fountain with six lion-headed gargoyles, exemplifying architectural beauty. Nearby, the City Hall is situated at Republic Square.

A short walk from City Hall leads to the church of Misericordia, where an intriguing story will be revealed, along with passing notable sites such as the Casa de Pimentel.

After a two-hour guided tour of Alandroal, you will have uncovered the charm of this historically and architecturally rich locale.
