Discover the rich history of a picturesque town in southern France with this personalized Albi Private Tour tailored for you and your companions. Experience the unique charm of this Occitanie region gem.
Description
The journey will commence at the designated time at the local Tourist Office.
Our first destination will be the Cathedral of Sainte Cecile. Inside this impressive medieval structure, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will be captivated by its stunning Gothic paintings and artistic treasures.
The sheer scale of the cathedral is remarkable, as it holds the title of the largest brick cathedral globally. Marvel at the intricate decorations of its vaults and sidewalls, which depict narratives from the Creation, the Last Judgement, and the Resurrection.
Next, we will explore the Palais de la Berbie. This 13th-century establishment, which once served as the bishop's residence, now accommodates the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum. Did you know that the renowned post-impressionist artist was born in Albi? Here, you will have the chance to view an array of masterpieces from this extraordinary painter. Additionally, the enchanting gardens surrounding the Palais will be a sight to behold.
Following this, we will stroll through the historic center and meander along the Tarn riverbanks towards the Pont Vieux, a bridge whose construction began in 1040, making it one of the oldest surviving bridges in France.
The tour will conclude approximately two hours after its initiation.
