Guided Tour of the Algiers Kasbah
Our meeting point will be near the statue of Bologhine Ben Ziri, the founder of the Ziri Amazigh dynasty. From here, we will ascend towards the scenic upper section of the Algiers Kasbah, a stunning fortress recognized as a World Heritage Site.
As we traverse the narrow alleyways of this coastal district, adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea, you'll encounter the unique traditional Arab homes that characterize the area. Along the way, we will pass various shops showcasing the vibrant craftsmanship of Algeria.
Continuing our exploration, we will arrive at the Ketchaoua Mosque, where we’ll take the time to appreciate its beautifully ornate facade. The mosque is adorned with colorful tiles, presenting a delightful fusion of shapes in bright hues of purple, green, and blue.
The journey will then lead us down to the lower section of the kasbah, entering the spectacular Palace of Rais, also known as Bastion 23. Here, we will uncover intriguing tales about its past and the notable figures who once inhabited this impressive 16th-century complex, which comprises three palatial structures and six opulent mansions. These walls have witnessed countless conspiracies and romances!
Our tour will come to an end at 12 pm as we stroll through the principal thoroughfares of the kasbah's lower district.
