Discover a charming town in southern Italy on our Aliano private tour, focusing on the writer and painter Carlo Levi as you explore this town with an exclusive guide.

Aliano Private Tour

Your private tour will commence at your chosen time on Via Martiri d'Ungheria. Aliano, located at 1640 feet (500 metres), overlooks the Agri Valley and is known for its natural environment and history.

During the tour, you will walk through the old town of Aliano, visiting the Church of San Luigi Gonzaga and observing traditional houses. Several lookout points will provide spectacular views of the area’s ravines.

The itinerary includes a visit to the Museum of Rural Civilization, showcasing daily life in this village in the province of Matera. Exhibits include ancient farming tools, items related to oil production and milking, and a rural dwelling.

As you explore, you will also see the façade of Carlo Levi's house, where he lived during the Fascist regime. Discussions will cover why he was held captive in this town and his notable work, Christ Stopped at Eboli. The tour concludes at the tomb of Carlo Levi, where the writer is interred.

Goodbyes will be exchanged, concluding the tour at the starting point or a central location of your choice.
