Aliano Private Tour

We will meet at your chosen time on Via Martiri d'Ungheria to start our private tour of Aliano. Located at an altitude of 1640 feet (500 meters), this village overlooks the Agri Valley, known for its natural environment and history.

During the tour, we will stroll through the old town of Aliano, admire the Church of San Luigi Gonzaga and the traditional houses. We will visit several lookout points for incredible views of the area's ravines.

We will also visit the Museum of Rural Civilization to understand daily life in this small village in the province of Matera. In the museum, we will see ancient farming tools, items used in oil production and milking, a rural dwelling, and other exhibits.

As we stroll through Aliano, we will see the façade of Carlo Levi's house, where he lived during the Fascist regime. We will discuss his captivity in this town and his notable works, including Christ Stopped at Eboli. Our final stop will be Carlo Levi's tomb, where the writer is laid to rest.

We will conclude our tour at the starting point or a central location of your choice.
