Castillo de Santa Barbara
One of the most emblematic spaces of the city. This promenade, renowned for its rolling mosaic pavement and centuries-old palm trees, reflects the open and Mediterranean character of Alicante. An ideal place to understand the importance of the port and the social life of the city. Located on top of Mount Benacantil, it is one of the largest medieval castles in Spain. From its surroundings the different historical stages of the fortress are explained – Islamic, medieval and modern – and enjoy exceptional panoramic views of the city and the coast.
- 2
Barrio Santa Cruz
The oldest and most picturesque neighborhood of Alicante. A latticework of narrow streets, white houses and flowery balconies that preserves the popular soul of the city. Here we address the local traditions and daily life of the most authentic Alicante.
- 3
Concatedral Sant Nicolau de Bari d'Alacant
Main temple of the city, built on an ancient mosque. It stands out for its sober Renaissance facade and baroque interior, especially the blue dome, one of Alicante’s architectural symbols.
- 4
Alicante City Hall
Baroque building of the 18th century located in the historical center. In front of its facade, key aspects of the institutional history of the city are explained, as well as curiosities such as the famous “zero level”, altimetric reference for all of Spain.
