Explore Almeria's most important monument and the largest Arab citadel in Spain, the historic Alcazaba built in the 10th century.

Tour Details

Meet your guide at the entrance of the Alcazaba of Almería. The fortress showcases a blend of Islamic and Christian architecture. The tour starts at the Puerta del Viento (Gate of Justice) and includes a visit to the gardens of the first enclosure, where an ancient hydraulic system is located. We'll ascend the garden steps to the Muro de la Vela (Wall of the Sail) that historically housed a bell for alerts.

Next, we'll enter the second enclosure to see the Caliphal cisterns, then proceed through the Hermitage Gate to explore troop baths, Arab houses, and the remains of a Muslim king's palace.

We will then visit the well-preserved Christian castle for insights into the stronghold's later history. A stop at the warden's house offers views of the Mediterranean, the ancient city walls, the Castle of San Cristóbal, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus monument. The tour lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours and concludes at the castle.
