Explore Almeria's most important monument and the largest Arab citadel in Spain. Discover the secrets deep within the walls of the 10th century fortress, the historic Alcazaba.

Itinerary

Meet your guide at the designated time on Almanzor street, outside the iconic historical site, the Alcazaba. Construction of this immense fortress began in the 10th century and was updated by the Catholic Monarchs post-Reconquista.

Admire the remains of the Jayran Walls leading to the Arab complex. Inside the Alcazaba, you will explore its three different walled enclosures. Your expert guide's explanations will take you back to the era of Islamic Andalusia.

Stroll through the gardens of the first enclosure to the Muro de la Vela, or 'Wall of the Sail', formerly housing a large bell that alerted the population to significant events in Almeria. The second enclosure features the Odalisque's viewpoint, offering views over the city and port.

Conclude the guided tour with a panoramic view from the Baluarte del Saliente. After taking photos, we will return to the Plaza de la Constitución to finish the tour.
