Explore Almeria's most important monument and the largest Arab citadel in Spain, the historic Alcazaba, a 10th-century fortress.

Itinerary

Meet your guide at the designated time on Almanzor street, outside the Alcazaba. This monumental fortress began construction in the 10th century and was later updated by the Catholic Monarchs after the Reconquista.

Admire the Jayran Walls leading to the Arab complex. Inside the Alcazaba, explore its three different walled enclosures as your guide shares insights into Islamic Andalusia. Stroll through the gardens of the first enclosure to the Muro de la Vela, which once housed a bell alerting Almeria's population to significant events. The second enclosure features the Odalisque's viewpoint, offering views over the city and port.

The tour concludes with a panoramic view from the Baluarte del Saliente. After taking photos, return to the Plaza de la Constitución to finish the tour.
