Explore Almeria and discover its legendary history with an expert local guide showing you the historic centre's most iconic monuments.

Guided Walking Tour of Almeria

We'll meet at the selected time in the Puerta de Purchena, located in the heart of the city centre and home to the famous Butterfly House.

Witness the impact left by the Civil War in the streets and monuments, including the almost three-mile-long Refugios, concrete tunnels built as air-raid shelters. Discover the ancient Aljibes Arabes, well-preserved underground cisterns from the 11th century.

Next, visit the Cathedral of the Incarnation, originally built as a fortress and place of worship in the 16th century. You will also see the Virgin of the Sea sanctuary and learn about both temples.

Transition from religious art to fine art at the Escuela de Artes y Oficio art school, and then see the Teatro Cervantes, associated with numerous legends.

Less than a five-minute walk away is the Doña Pakita Art Museum, where various Almerian works from the 19th and 20th centuries can be viewed.

Conclude your tour by relaxing in the Parque de Nicolás Salmerón Park, located between the port and the historic centre, before finishing at the iconic Cable Inglés loading dock, a remarkable example of 20th-century cast-iron architecture.
