Guided Walking Tour of Almería

We will meet at the selected time in the Puerta de Purchena, located in the city center near the famous Butterfly House. You will see the impact of the Civil War in the streets and monuments, including the almost three-mile-long Refugios, which are concrete tunnels used as air-raid shelters. Explore the ancient Aljibes Árabes, 11th-century underground cisterns.

Next, visit the Cathedral of the Incarnation, originally built as a fortress and place of worship in the 16th century. You will also see the Virgin of the Sea sanctuary and learn about both sites.

Proceed to the Escuela de Artes y Oficio art school, followed by a visit to the Teatro Cervantes, known for its legends. You will then walk to the Doña Pakita Art Museum, which houses Almerian art from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Conclude your guided tour by relaxing in the Parque de Nicolás Salmerón, located between the port and the historic centre, and finish at the Cable Inglés loading dock, an example of 20th-century cast-iron architecture.
