Mt. Pilatus Cogwheel Train

This ticket provides a full day of access to the Cogwheel train that ascends to Mount Pilatus, located at 2132 meters (7,000 feet) above sea level, marking the border between the cantons of Lucerne, Nidwalden, and Obwalden.

To board the world's steepest Cogwheel railway, travel to Brüningstrasse 2 in Alpnach, where the train has a maximum gradient of 48%. The journey to the Pilatus Kulm station takes just 30 minutes and offers scenic views of meadows and alpine forests.

At the Pilatus station, visitors can enjoy the lookout point and a panoramic restaurant with views of the Alps.

Cable Car from Kriens

The train service from Alpnach runs from May 17, 2024, to November 17, 2024. For winter visits, consider the cable car from Kriens. Note that the cable car will be closed for maintenance from October 21, 2024, to November 08, 2024, during which Mt. Pilatus can be accessed via the cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad.
