Tour Details

At the designated time, we'll meet at the Piazza Duomo. Here, we'll begin a guided tour of Altamura that will allow us to explore this town in depth in the Murge plateau.

Firstly, we'll observe the facade of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, with its Romanesque-Gothic style and two bell towers. We'll then proceed to Pontrelli Quarry, also known as Dinosaur Quarry, where footprints of over 200 species were discovered.

Our journey will continue to the historical centre, visiting the house of musician Saverio Mercadante and the San Nicola dei Greci Church, which is prominent on the city's main street. Additionally, we will discuss the history of Altamura, which has been inhabited for over 150,000 years, evidenced by the remains of Ciccillo.

To conclude the tour, we will visit a typical bakery to taste authentic Altamura bread, renowned worldwide. After 2 hours, we'll say our goodbyes at the initial starting point.
