On this free tour of Altea, we'll explore this Mediterranean town with its white houses and bays that once served as pirate refuges.

Description

At the scheduled time, we will meet in front of the Altea City Hall to begin discovering the town's attractions. The origin of the town's name will be explained.

We will proceed to the neighbourhood of Bellagaurda with its picturesque white streets adorned with bougainvilleas and flowers. Our first stop will be the Plaza de la Canterería, representing the original neighborhood of Altea.

Next, we will visit houses transformed into charming hotels, including Ca Salva, the first built outside the walls. We will ascend the Costera Pont del Montcau to reach Plaza del Agua, a site for cultural events, and view the Medieval water mill serving the town since the 15th and 16th centuries.

This free tour continues up the Costera del Mestre la Música, with its 255 steps, to the Portal Vell, the original 16th-century entrance. The Portal Nou leads us to the fishing neighbourhood in Altea.

We will enjoy panoramic views from the Baluarte del Común, then visit the Glorieta de Francisco Martínez and ascend Calle de Santa Bárbara to Casa Cervantes. In Plaza de la Iglesia, we will admire Nuestra Señora del Consuelo Church and its domes.

The tour concludes at the Cronista de España Viewpoint with impressive views of Altea, finishing at Calle San Miguel for you to explore shops and artisan workshops.
