Discover the history of the Châteaux de Chenonceau and Chambord with this tour from Amboise. You'll also visit the Duhard Cellars!
Description
The Loire Valley offers wineries, châteaux, and beautiful landscapes. The tour begins with a pickup from the Amboise Tourist Office at 9:30 am. The first stop will be the Château de Chenonceau, recognized for its arches over the river Cher.
Known as the "Château des Dames," the Château de Chenonceau is a significant royal palace in the Loire Valley. Inside, we'll explore the rooms of Catherine de Medici and learn about the illustrious women associated with the château. The structure is named "Chenonceau," despite being in Chenonceaux, a fact linked to one of its historical residents.
Next, we will return to Amboise for a light lunch at the Duhard Wine Cellars, featuring a tasting of three French wines paired with regional cold meats and cheeses.
After lunch, we will travel to the Château de Chambord, one of the Loire Valley's largest châteaux. Inside, we will see its architectural features, including a notable spiral staircase, reputedly designed by Leonardo da Vinci. The influence of the French Renaissance is evident throughout the castle.
The tour concludes with a return to the Tourist Office in Amboise, scheduled for arrival from 6 pm onwards.
