Can you imagine going from one ocean to another by crossing the Panama Canal? On this trip, we'll traverse the locks of one of the most impressive engineering feats in the world.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Flamenco Marina, where we'll hop on a boat to begin our cruise on the Panama Canal, sailing from the Pacific Ocean into the Atlantic. Enjoy a light breakfast aboard the boat before we set off. Our first stop will be the Bridge of the Americas, connecting North and Central America with South America, with views of islands that protect the Canal and Panama City skyscrapers.
Halfway through the boat ride, we'll take a break for lunch. After lunch, we will pass by the Miraflores lock, which lifts the boat to the highest level of the Canal at Gatún Lake. Next, we will transit the Pedro Miguel lock and see the entrance to the Chagres River, the source of fresh water for the Canal.
We will traverse Gatún Lake, spanning 425 square kilometres (162 square miles), featuring islands such as Isla de los Monos and Barro Colorado.
After completing the locks, we'll arrive at the city of Colón on the Caribbean coast, where we will catch a bus for our return journey to the starting point.
Finally, we'll say our goodbyes at Flamenco Marina after a total of 11 hours together.
