Why Visit Angers Castle?

Built by the Counts of Anjou in the Middle Ages, Angers Castle represents power over the Maine River. The fortress features 17 defensive towers and a deep moat. A ticket permits exploration of the towers and battlements, as well as the castle's medieval gardens, allowing a glimpse into the life of nobility in Anjou. Inside the castle, the chapel of St. John the Baptist exhibits sacred art from the medieval era, while the Apocalypse Tapestry remains the castle's main attraction, measuring 20 feet high and 350 feet long, depicting the Apocalypse of Saint John, and is crucial due to its size and preservation state.
