The Counts of Anjou built Angers Castle in the Middle Ages to showcase their power along the Maine River. The fortress, enhanced over time, features 17 substantial defensive towers and a moat. Visitors can explore the towers and battlements and enjoy the medieval gardens. Inside the castle, the chapel of St. John the Baptist displays various sacred art pieces. The main highlight is the Apocalypse Tapestry, measuring 20 feet high and 350 feet long, depicting the Apocalypse of Saint John and recognized as one of France's most significant tapestries due to its size and preservation.
