Constructed by the Counts of Anjou on the banks of the Maine River, Angers Castle exemplifies medieval power. The castle features 17 defensive towers and a deep moat. A ticket grants access to the towers and battlements and the medieval gardens, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the historical ambiance. Inside the castle grounds, the chapel of St. John the Baptist houses sacred art from the medieval era. A highlight is the Apocalypse Tapestry, measuring 20 feet high and 350 feet long, depicting the Apocalypse of Saint John and recognized as one of France's most important tapestries due to its size and preservation.
