Constructed by the Counts of Anjou in the Middle Ages, Angers Castle sits on the banks of the Maine River. Over the years, it has been fortified with 17 defensive towers and a moat. Your ticket grants access to the towers and battlements and allows you to stroll through the medieval gardens. Within the castle grounds, the chapel of St. John the Baptist displays medieval sacred art. The Apocalypse Tapestry is a highlight, measuring 20 feet high and 350 feet long, depicting the Apocalypse of Saint John. This tapestry is significant due to its size and condition, making it a must-see during your visit.

The operating hours for Angers Castle are:

May 2 to September 4: 10 am to 6:30 pmSeptember 5 to April 30: 10 am to 5:30 pm

Last admission is 45 minutes before closing. On December 24 and 31, the castle closes at 4:30 pm.

Free Admission

Admission is free for:

EU residents aged 18 to 25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.

Additionally, free entry is available on the first Sunday of the month from January to March and November to December, and on the third weekend of September. To obtain free admission, visit the ticket office with a valid certifying document.
