Angers Castle is a significant fortress located in western France, known for housing the exquisite Apocalypse Tapestry, a 14th-century masterpiece.

Why Visit Angers Castle?

Constructed by the Counts of Anjou in the Middle Ages, Angers Castle was designed to symbolize their power along the banks of the Maine River. Over the years, the castle was fortified, resulting in its current structure that boasts 17 imposing defensive towers and a deep moat surrounding it.

Your ticket grants access to the towers and battlements. A visit is incomplete without a walk through the renowned medieval gardens, where you can immerse yourself in the era of knights and ladies of Anjou.

Within the castle walls, you will also find the chapel of St. John the Baptist, showcasing various sacred artworks from medieval times. However, the main attraction is undoubtedly the Apocalypse Tapestry, measuring 20 feet in height and 350 feet in length. This remarkable tapestry narrates the Apocalypse of Saint John and is considered one of the most important tapestries in France due to its exceptional preservation and huge size.
