Terceira Whale Watching

We'll meet at the agreed time at the Angra do Heroísmo marina to begin our boat tour around the coast of Terceira island. As we sail the Atlantic ocean, we'll enjoy views of the island from the boat.

You'll have the opportunity to see whales in their natural habitat. The strategic position of the Azores between Europe and America means the islands are an important stop-off point for migrating whales. In summer, it's common to see pilot whales, while during spring and autumn, blue whales, the largest animal on earth, are more frequently observed.

During the tour, we'll learn about the characteristics of these protected mammals and the need to care for the environment and preserve the biodiversity of Terceira. If we're lucky, we might see some friendly dolphins that share the waters of the island with their larger cousins.

After 3 hours of sailing, we'll return to the starting point.

Important Information

Whales are commonly found off the coast of Terceira island. However, they are wild animals, and unpredictable. We cannot guarantee the number of whales nor the species we'll see during the tour.
