We will leave from Santander towards the fishing village of Santoña. This village is famous for its anchovy industry. The anchovies of Santoña are meant to be among the best in the world. We will visit Emilia anchovy factory and discover some of the secrets of their anchovy production process. After this visit, we will enjoy some scenic driving around Santoña to know it better.
Afterward, we will visit the vineyard of Bodegas Vidular. This is a local wine producer run by a family. During this pleasant visit, we will walk through their vineyard and learn about their wine production process. We will end the visit enjoying a wine tasting and a small pica-pica.
Our next stop will be in the Pasiegos Valleys. This is one of the most rural areas in Cantabria with many farmers and cattle rangers. We will stop there for lunch in one of their cosy local restaurants. After this break, we will continue our driving through the green fields of the Pasiego Valleys up to a viewpoint known as “Mirador de la Braguía”. The landscape of the mountains and the village of Vega de Pas is just great!!
Finally, we will return to the small village of Selaya to visit “Sobaos Joselín”, this is the largest quesadas and sobaos factory in the region. These are local pastries famous in Cantabria and a must visit if you like to learn about local gastronomy. We will visit their facilities, learn about the history of this family-run factory and enjoy a guided tasting of their products.
