Discover why Torcal de Antequera is one of Andalusia's most spectacular nature reserves and one of Europe's most impressive karst landscapes on this guided hiking trip.
Activity Details
We'll meet at the indicated time in the Torcal Alto car park. From there, we'll set off on a spectacular hiking route through the Torcal de Antequera. Let's go!
Once there, we'll begin our hiking route through a sea of stone, labyrinths of towers, corridors, and figures that seem to have been sculpted by the most whimsical artists... although in reality, it was the sea that shaped this rocky landscape. Did you know that the primitive Mediterranean Sea passed through here during the Jurassic period?
We'll start walking along a circular path, among limestone formations that will make us imagine castles, animals, or giant faces. Each bend in the path will surprise us with new silhouettes: the screw, the hat, the dice, the binoculars... What shapes will we find?
As we walk, we'll explain how the sea, wind, and rain have carved these stones over millions of years. We'll learn to recognise marine fossils embedded in the rocks, witnesses to that ancient time.
The wildlife of this enclave will also accompany us on our journey. Mountain goats leaping between the crags, griffon vultures gliding overhead, and wild orchids sprouting from the cracks. At certain points, we'll stop to admire the panoramic views of the Vega de Antequera on the horizon.
Our hiking route through the Torcal de Antequera will end at the meeting point 3 hours later.
