Guartelá Canyon & Castro Excursion

Your day begins at 7 am with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Curitiba, followed by a direct drive to Guartelá State Park, which takes roughly two and a half hours by minibus.

Upon arrival, embark on a 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) hiking trail that leads you to discover the largest canyon in Brazil and the sixth largest globally, an experience that promises to be unforgettable!

The two-and-a-half hour hike offers spectacular views of the Guartelá Canyon, a natural wonder extending 30 kilometers (18.6 miles). Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including the king vulture, pigeon hawk, blue-fronted parakeet, purple-breasted parakeet, and various other bird species.

As we ascend to one of the most picturesque viewpoints of the canyon, you will encounter stunning waterfalls where you can opt for a refreshing dip, if you desire.

After the hike, we’ll return to our transport and head into the town of Castro, where a tasty buffet lunch awaits to replenish your energy. With satisfied appetites, we’ll take a panoramic tour around Castro, viewing its notable landmarks such as the lake park, the church, and the Morro do Cristo.

Before heading back to Curitiba, we will stop by the Tropero de Castro Museum. This unique exhibition focuses on one of Brazil’s oldest professions with roots dating back to the 16th century. Can you guess what it is? You’ll find out soon!

The tour concludes around 7 pm, after which you will be dropped off at your hotel in Curitiba.
