Immerse yourself in the serene landscapes surrounding Curitiba with a choice of two scenic hiking expeditions: Faxina Canyon or the ascent to Araçatuba Peak.

At the time of your reservation, you'll have the option to select from two distinct hiking routes. Both experiences include complimentary pickup and drop-off at your accommodation in Curitiba, along with transportation via bus or minibus and a knowledgeable guide fluent in Portuguese. Below are the itineraries for each hiking route:

Hike to Faxina Canyon

This moderate route spans approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), leading us deep into Faxina Canyon, located in São Luíz do Purunã, within the municipality of Balsa Nova.

As we commence our adventure, the stunning vistas of this natural haven will captivate you. This area is recognized as part of Brazil’s Natural Heritage and boasts fascinating geological formations that are over 400 million years old. Moreover, this canyon serves as a natural boundary between Paraná’s first and second plateaus.

During our journey, we will encounter scenic trails, picturesque waterfalls, and breathtaking viewpoints, with an ideal spot for a refreshing swim in the river, depending on the season. We'll take a leisurely break for about 20 minutes here to relish the cooling waters.

After approximately 6 hours of exploration, we will return to your hotel in Curitiba.

Hike to Araçatuba Peak

This alternative option, also characterized by moderate difficulty, involves an 8-kilometer (5 miles) hike that takes us to the summit of Araçatuba, recognized as the highest mountain in southeastern Paraná, standing at an elevation of 1,673 meters (5,488 feet). Nestled in Tijucas do Sul, this peak is part of the renowned Serra do Mar range, bordering Santa Catarina.

As we ascend, you'll have the chance to admire the distinctive mountain flora and experience the local microclimate, which is notably the coldest region in Paraná, influenced by sea breezes. Additionally, this area is known for its fog, unexpected rain showers, and sharp temperature drops. At certain times of the year, there's a possibility of encountering snow, adding an exhilarating twist to the experience!

We will complete our hiking adventure after approximately 10 hours, concluding back at your hotel in Curitiba.
