Chachani Volcano 2-Day Trip
Day 1
At 7:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa in a jeep and set off. We will arrive at Pampa Cañahuas, behind the Chachani Volcano, to prepare our equipment as the guide provides basic tips.
We will spend the next 2 hours gradually ascending to the base camp, located at an altitude of 17,060 feet (5,200 metres) above sea level. Upon arrival, we will set up tents and have lunch consisting of soup and pasta or canned food.
As night falls, we will have herbal tea and rest for the night.
Day 2
Our second day begins at 2 am. After preparing for our adventure and checking equipment, we will enjoy breakfast before starting our climb to the summit of the Chachani Volcano.
If weather permits, we will reach the summit around 5 am after an intense hike. At the summit, you will have free time to snack and admire views of surrounding volcanoes including Coropuna, Aspato, Hualca Hualca, and the active Sabancaya, Misti, and Ubinas volcanoes.
After the break, we will descend to base camp, making several stops to rest. Upon returning to the starting point, the jeep will be ready to take us back to Arequipa, with an expected drop-off at your hotel around 7 pm.
