Colca Canyon Day Trip

Colca Valley is home to one of the deepest canyons in the world. Enjoy its incredible scenery with this day trip from Arequipa and explore the picturesque town of Chivay.

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa. After a 3-hour drive through southern Peru, we will arrive at the Andean village of Chivay, located at over 3,000 metres (9,842 ft) above sea level, where we'll make a short stop for a light breakfast with regional specialties.

After breakfast, we'll visit the village of Maca, where we will see the church and optionally taste the traditional cocktail Colca Sour. Participants can take pictures with llamas and alpacas.

Next, we will visit the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, just 50 minutes from Chivay, spending an hour there to admire views of Colca Canyon and to observe condors flying in the Andes.

We will continue the route with stops at viewpoints such as Wayrapunko and Antahuilque to admire views of hanging tombs, lithomachs, and ancient terraces.

Afterwards, we will stop at the thermal baths of Chacapi for 45 minutes. Alternatively, you can go ziplining or kayaking. Around midday, we’ll return to Chivay for free time for lunch before continuing to the Mirador de Los Volcanes to see the Chila mountain range and various volcanoes.

We will also cross the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca before returning to Arequipa, completing the excursion after 14 to 15 hours.

Booking includes an option with lunch, offering a buffet meal at a restaurant in Chivay or nearby.

Hotel Pickup and Ending Point

Pickup is included from hotels within a radius of 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) from the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa. If your hotel is outside this area, meet at the door of the cathedral at the Plaza de Armas at the indicated time.

The tour departing at 2 am ends near Plaza de Armas, while the 2:40 am tour includes transfer back to your hotel.
