Colca Valley is home to one of the deepest canyons in the world. Enjoy its incredible scenery with this day trip from Arequipa and explore the picturesque town of Chivay.

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa at the indicated time. After approximately 3 hours of driving, we'll arrive at Chivay, located at over 3,000 metres (9,842 ft). Here, we will have a light breakfast featuring various regional specialties.

Next, we will visit the traditional village of Maca, where you can explore the church and optionally taste the Colca Sour cocktail made with Sancayo and pisco. There will also be opportunities to take photos with llamas and alpacas.

Afterward, we will head to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, just 50 minutes from Chivay. We will spend an hour there to enjoy the views of the Colca Canyon and possibly spot condors.

The tour will continue with stops at viewpoints like Wayrapunko and Antahuilque, allowing you to admire hanging tombs, lithomachs, and terraces from pre-Inca and Inca times.

We will visit the thermal baths of Chacapi, where you have 45 minutes to enjoy the waters. Alternatively, you can use this time for ziplining or kayaking.

Around midday, we’ll return to Chivay for some free time for lunch. Afterward, we will visit the Mirador de Los Volcanes for views of the Chila mountain range and various snow-capped peaks, crossing the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca before returning to Arequipa, concluding the tour after 14 to 15 hours.

When booking, you can select the lunch option, which includes a buffet lunch at a restaurant in Chivay or the surrounding area.

Hotel Pickup and Ending Point

Pickup is included for hotels within a radius of 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) from Plaza de Armas in Arequipa. For hotels outside this area, meet at the indicated time at the door of the cathedral in Plaza de Armas. The tour departing at 2 am ends near Plaza de Armas, while the 2:40 am tour includes hotel transfer unless there are access restrictions in the historical center.
