Colca Valley is home to one of the deepest canyons in the world. Enjoy its scenery with this day trip from Arequipa and explore the town of Chivay.

Colca Canyon Day Trip

We will pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa at the scheduled time. After approximately 3 hours of driving through southern Peru, we'll arrive at the village of Chivay, where we will make a short stop for a light breakfast with regional specialties.

After breakfast, we'll head to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, located about 50 minutes from Chivay. We will spend an hour there to enjoy views of Colca Canyon and spot condors in the sky.

We will continue to various viewpoints in the area like Wayrapunko and Antahuilque to admire hanging tombs, lithomachs, and terraces from pre-Inca and Inca times. A stop at the thermal baths of Chacapi will allow those interested to soak in its waters.

Around midday, we will return to Chivay or a nearby town for lunch. After lunch, we will stop at Mirador de Los Volcanes to observe the Chila mountain range, snow-capped peaks, and other volcanoes.

We will also cross the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, where the Misti and Chachani volcanoes will be visible. We will return to Arequipa, concluding the excursion after about 14 hours.

Pickup is included at hotels within 1 kilometer of the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa. If your hotel is outside this area, arrive at 2:40 am at the meeting point in the Plaza de Armas.
