Colca Valley is home to one of the deepest canyons in the world. Enjoy its incredible scenery with this day trip from Arequipa and explore the picturesque town of Chivay.

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa. After approximately 3 hours of driving through southern Peru, we'll arrive at Chivay, located over 3,000 metres (9,842 ft) above sea level, where we'll have a short stop for a light breakfast with regional specialities.

After breakfast, we'll visit the traditional village of Maca, where you can explore the church and enjoy an optional tasting of the Colca Sour cocktail made with Sancayo and pisco. You can also take pictures with llamas and alpacas.

Next, we'll proceed to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, just 50 minutes from Chivay, and spend an hour there to enjoy views of the Colca Canyon and possibly spot condors. We will stop at locations like Wayrapunko and Antahuilque to view hanging tombs, lithomachs, and terraces from pre-Inca and Inca times.

We'll then visit the thermal baths of Chacapi, allowing you 45 minutes to enjoy the waters. If you prefer not to bathe, you may choose to zipline or kayak instead.

Around midday, we’ll return to Chivay or a nearby town for some free time for lunch. After lunch, we’ll stop at the Mirador de Los Volcanes to view the Chila mountain range and various volcanoes. We will cross the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, observing the silhouettes of Misti and Chachani on the horizon.

Finally, we will return to Arequipa, concluding the excursion after 14 to 15 hours.

When booking, you can select the option with lunch, which includes a buffet lunch at a restaurant in Chivay or the surrounding area.

Hotel Pickup and Ending Point

Pickup is included for hotels within a radius of 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) from the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa. If your hotel is outside this area, you will need to meet at the door of the cathedral in the Plaza de Armas at the specified time. The tour departing at 2 am ends near the Plaza de Armas, while the tour at 2:40 am includes a transfer back to your hotel.
