Colca Canyon to Puno Day Trip

Admire one of the most impressive views of the Andean country with this day trip to Colca Canyon from Arequipa. You'll finish the tour in Puno, Peru's folklore capital, to continue exploring.

Day Trip Details

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Arequipa and after a 3-hour bus ride through southern Peru, we'll reach the town of Chivay. At more than 3000 meters (9800 feet) above sea level, we'll stop to enjoy a breakfast of bread with butter and jam, along with juice and coffee or tea.

After breakfast, we'll visit the town of Yanque and then proceed to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint. You can embark on a small hike along the route. At the viewpoint, you can admire the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world, and spot Andean condors.

Following the viewpoint, we will visit other towns and viewpoints in Colca Valley, such as Wayrapunko or Antahuillque. Next, we'll relax at the Chacapi hot springs for 1 hour.

After the hot springs, we'll enjoy typical dishes of the area at a restaurant before heading to Puno. During the journey, we will stop at the Patapampa viewpoint for views of Ampato and Sabancaya volcanoes and at the Salinas Reserve and Lagunillas to observe local wildlife.

The day trip will conclude at the historic center of the city of Puno, wrapping up a total of 17 hours.

This activity includes pickup at hotels within a 0.62-mile (1-kilometer) radius of the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa. If you're staying outside this area, you'll need to make your way to the meeting point at the entrance of the Basilica Cathedral of Arequipa, located in the Plaza de Armas.
