Colca Canyon Trek: 2 or 3 Days from Arequipa
Day 1: Arequipa – Cruz del Cóndor – Oasis de Sangalle
At 3 am on the first day, pick up from your hotel in Arequipa and travel to Chivay for breakfast. Visit Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint to see Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world. The trek begins at Pampa San Miguel, featuring panoramic views, waterfalls, and hanging bridges. Lunch will be at a family home in San Juan de Chuccho. Continue to the Sangalle Oasis for swimming and bonfires, where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Cabanaconde – Chivay – Arequipa
On the second day, wake at 5 am and have breakfast in Cabanaconde. Travel to Chivay, stopping at the Antahuilque viewpoint and Maca. Arrive in Yanque around 11:30 am for hot springs. Lunch in Chivay and visit the Andes viewpoint for panoramic views of Hualca Hualca, Sabanaya, and Ampato. After visiting Pampas Cañahuas for vicuña sightings, return to Arequipa, arriving at 5:30 pm.
3-day trek in Colca Canyon
Choose the 3-day trek for additional exploration of the Colca Valley. This option visits Cosñirhua and Malata, the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve, and offers a fishing tour on the Colca River.
