The Colca Valley offers a combination of nature and tradition, featuring Chivay and the Apurímac River, the starting point of the Amazon River. This two-day tour allows exploration of one of Peru's impressive regions.

Colca Valley 2 Day Trip

Day 1: Arequipa - Colca Canyon - Chivay

On the first day, pick-up from your accommodation in Arequipa occurs at 2:30 am. The trip lasts around three hours, including a stop in the town of Yanque for a typical breakfast.

After another hour and a half, reach the Condor Cross viewpoint, known for condors and views of the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest craters globally. Continuing through the Colca Valley, we stop in Maca to see the colonial church and experience local culture.

Passing numerous pre-Inca terraces, we will visit the Valley's hot springs for relaxation. The day concludes in Chivay, the capital of the Colca Valley, where the afternoon is free to explore at over 9842 feet (3000 meters) above sea level.

Day 2: Chivay - Apurímac River - Arequipa

Breakfast is provided at the hotel before departing Chivay for the Apurímac River, approximately two and a half hours away. At 16,400 feet (5000 meters), we will walk alongside the river, observing Andean birds and llamas.

After witnessing the Apurímac's crystal-clear waters flowing from the Andes, we return to Chivay for lunch (not included) and stop to view the Patapampa mountains and volcano before heading back to Arequipa, arriving around 6 pm.

Accommodation

The tour includes one night at Hotel Colca Llaqta or a similar hotel.

Hotel Pick Up

Pick-up is available from city center accommodations; otherwise, the meeting point is at Plaza de Armas at 2:30 am.

Tickets

The tour excludes the tourist ticket to the Colca Canyon (approx. 23 USD) and entrance to the hot springs (approx. 6 USD).
