Get your walking boots on and get ready for a hike through the Arequipa countryside. We'll explore the trails surrounding the Misti Volcano, admire the Laguna de Salinas, and encounter llamas and alpacas.

Laguna de Salinas Day Trip

After picking you up from your accommodation in Arequipa between 6 and 6:30 am, we'll start our journey to Laguna de Salinas, located on the edge of the Salinas & Aguada Blanca Natural Reserve.

On the way, we'll stop in Chiguata, a typical village in the area, to have a continental breakfast consisting of juice, mate or coffee, cereals, and toast.

We'll explore the natural setting and discover the plants and wildlife characteristic of the Arequipa region, all while being just behind the Misti Volcano, one of the region's ten active volcanoes. During our tour, we'll see an Andean forest with small trees and bushes known as queñuales.

Upon reaching Laguna de Salinas, we will observe its changing landscapes: if dry, it will appear white as snow; if water is present, we’ll see a significant amount of salt accumulation. Additionally, we'll be accompanied by local alpacas and llamas and may spot three types of flamingos.

We’ll explore the lagoon's vicinity and the Lojen volcano area, as well as some thermal baths. After the walk, you will have free time for lunch before we return to Arequipa. The tour will conclude at your hotel around 4:30 pm.
