Get your walking boots on and get ready for a hike through the Arequipa countryside. We'll explore the trails around the Misti Volcano, admire the Laguna de Salinas, and encounter llamas and alpacas!

Laguna de Salinas Day Trip

After picking you up from your accommodation in Arequipa between 6 and 6:30 am, we'll start our journey towards the Laguna de Salinas, located at the edge of the Salinas & Aguada Blanca Natural Reserve.

On the way, we'll stop in Chiguata, a typical village, to have a continental breakfast consisting of juice, mate or coffee, cereals, and toast.

We'll explore the natural setting and discover the plants and wildlife characteristic of the region of Arequipa. We will be located just behind the Misti Volcano, one of the region's ten active volcanoes. During our tour, we will see an Andean forest formed by small trees and bushes called queñuales.

When we reach Laguna de Salinas, we will observe its changing landscapes: if the lake is dry, it will appear white. If there is water, we can see the salt that collects around. As we admire the views, we will be accompanied by local alpacas and llamas. We may also see three types of flamingos.

We will explore the vicinity of the lagoon and the area of the Lojen volcano, including some thermal baths. After the walk, you will be free for lunch and then we will return to Arequipa. The tour will end at your hotel around 4:30 pm.
