Get your walking boots on and prepare for a hike through the Arequipa countryside. This tour includes trails surrounding the Misti Volcano, visits to Laguna de Salinas, and encounters with llamas and alpacas.

Laguna de Salinas Day Trip

We begin with a pickup from your accommodation in Arequipa between 6 and 6:30 am and proceed towards Laguna de Salinas, located on the edge of the Salinas & Aguada Blanca Natural Reserve.

On the way, we will stop in Chiguata, a local village, for a continental breakfast that includes juice, mate or coffee, cereals, and toast.

During the hike, we will explore the unique plants and wildlife of the Arequipa region, with the majestic Misti Volcano in our sight, which is one of the area’s ten active volcanoes. We will pass through an Andean forest characterized by small trees and bushes called queñuales.

Upon reaching Laguna de Salinas, we will observe its dynamic landscapes. If the lake is dry, its appearance resembles fresh snow. If there’s water, we’ll see the extensive salt deposits around it, along with local alpacas and llamas. Additionally, there are three types of flamingos that can be spotted.

We will explore the area around the lagoon and the Lojen volcano, including some thermal baths. After the hike, you will have free time for lunch before we return to Arequipa, concluding the tour at your hotel around 4:30 pm.
