Mollendo Day Trip
At 7:40 am, we'll pick you up and travel to Mollendo, located about 124 miles (100 kilometers) from Arequipa. En route, we will pass through the port of Matarni, the main port in southern Peru.
Upon arrival in Islay province's capital, we'll observe Mollendo's unique architecture, characterized by old colonial-style mansions and white sandy beaches that form a distinctive coastal landscape.
We will walk along Comercio Street, featuring iconic buildings from the late 19th century, a period when the city flourished due to the railway's arrival.
Our journey continues along Mariscal Castilla Avenue, where we will see historically significant buildings, including Villa Velásquez, constructed with pine in 1912, and the Church of the Immaculate Conception, noted for its two-towered vault.
Next, we will visit the Ratti seafront for picturesque views of the beaches, pier, the well-known Mollendo water park, and the historic Forga Castle, which has a counterpart on the coast of Morocco.
After exploring Mollendo, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Following lunch, we will return to Arequipa, arriving at your hotel around 5:30 pm.
