Mollendo Day Trip

Your journey begins at 7:40 am when we collect you for a drive to Mollendo, located approximately 124 miles (100 kilometers) from Arequipa. During the trip, we will pass through the Matarani port, the key port in southern Peru.

Upon reaching the capital of Islay province, you will encounter the distinctive architecture that defines Mollendo. The contrast between its historic colonial-style residences and the inviting white sandy beaches creates an exceptional coastal atmosphere.

Next, we will stroll along Comercio Street, where you can appreciate some of the town's notable buildings dating back to the late 19th century, a pivotal time for the city following the introduction of the railway.

Continuing along Mariscal Castilla Avenue, we will view significant historical sites such as the Villa Velásquez, a mansion constructed from pine in 1912. Additionally, we will visit the impressive Church of the Immaculate Conception, known for its remarkable twin towers.

Our adventure will lead us to the Ratti seafront, where breathtaking views of the beaches, pier, the notable Mollendo water park, and the historic Forga Castle await. Interestingly, this castle has a counterpart along the Moroccan coast.

Following our exploration of Mollendo, we will enjoy a meal at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will make our way back to Arequipa, with an expected drop-off at your hotel around 5:30 pm.
