Spend the day in touch with the culture and nature of southern Peru on our Mollendo Day Trip. You'll see where some of the protected bird species in this part of the Andean country live.

Mollendo Day Trip

At 7:40 am, we'll pick you up and set off for Mollendo, located around 124 miles (100 kilometers) from Arequipa. On the way, we'll pass through the port of Matarni, the most important port in southern Peru.

Upon arriving in the capital of Islay province, we will see the unique architecture of Mollendo, characterized by a mix of colonial-style mansions and white sandy beaches.

We'll take a walk along Comercio Street, home to some of the city's iconic buildings from the late 19th century, a period when the city grew significantly after the arrival of the railway.

Next, we'll continue along Mariscal Castilla Avenue, where we will see historically significant buildings, including Villa Velásquez, a mansion built of pine in 1912, and the Church of the Immaculate Conception, known for its two-towered vault.

Our next stop will be the Ratti seafront, offering views of the beaches, pier, Mollendo water park, and the old Forga Castle, which has a counterpart on the coast of Morocco.

After exploring Mollendo, we'll stop at a local restaurant for lunch. We will then return to Arequipa, dropping you off at your hotel around 5:30 pm.
