Join us to discover two of Kefalonia's most important historical treasures on this trip to the Castle of St. George and the Monastery of Agios Gerasimos from Argostoli.
Description
At the indicated time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Argostoli to start our journey to the Castle of St. George and the Monastery of Agios Gerasimos.
We will first stop at viewpoints next to the Katavothres Ferris wheel and the historic lighthouse of Argostoli for sea views.
Next, we will visit the village of Kastro to explore the Castle of St. George, a fortress built in the 12th century and completed in the mid-16th century. It is situated on a hill 320 metres (1,049 feet) above sea level.
The castle includes two parts with an inner courtyard shaped like a horseshoe and displays coats of arms of Venetian rulers from the 1500s.
Following this, we will visit the Monastery of Agios Gerasimos, a significant pilgrimage site in Kefalonia. We will see its hermitage and enter its 2 underground rooms through a narrow path.
To conclude, we will visit the Vasilakis Culture boutique for an aperitif featuring local products such as wine, olive oil, and traditional sweets.
After a total of 4 hours, we will return to the starting point.
