Lake Chungará Tour

Between 7 am and 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Arica and depart for the Andean highlands of northern Chile to tour the Lauca National Park, home to Lake Chungará.

We'll first stop in the small town of Poconchile to visit the church of San Jerónimo, dating back to 1605. The route to Chungará includes the ravine of Los Cardones, the village of Malku, and the viewpoint of Putre, where we will enjoy panoramic views of Lauca National Park.

The tour continues to the viewpoint of Chucuyo, the last stop before Lake Chungará. This Andean lake, at an altitude of 4500 meters (14763 feet), is part of a biodiverse ecosystem. We'll walk around the lake to see various native animals, including alpacas, guanacos, vicuñas, and llamas.

Lake Chungará also attracts numerous altiplano birds such as Chilean flamingos, Neotropic cormorants, South American ostriches, giant taguas, and condors. After observing these endemic birds, we'll visit a local restaurant for a three-course lunch of local cuisine.

Finally, after lunch, we'll return to your hotel in Arica, arriving at 7 pm.
