Arles Private Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the tourist office in Arles to start a walking tour of the historic center of this town in the South of France.
During our private tour of Arles, we will walk through the old town and stop at its most emblematic monuments, revealing their history and curiosities. As this is a personalised tour, you can specify which places interest you the most.
We will begin by visiting the exterior of the Arles Amphitheatre, one of the best preserved Roman amphitheatres globally. Here, we will discuss the gladiatorial fights that occurred in this 1st century arena.
Next, we will see the ancient theatre, allowing us to explore the art and culture of the Roman Empire. We will also view the Obélisque d'Arles, a red granite structure on the Place de la République, alongside the Town Hall.
We can stop at the Church of St Trophime, a World Heritage Site, examining the Romanesque details of its 12th century façade.
Additionally, we will discuss Vincent Van Gogh, who lived in Arles for over a year and painted around 200 works. We will visit locations he depicted, including the Café de la Nuit.
After 2 hours of sightseeing, we will conclude our private tour of Arles by returning to the starting point.
