Embark on a journey to explore a charming Colombian town nestled in the Risaralda Department with this day trip to Marsella. This experience offers a glimpse of colonial architecture and the opportunity to visit a local agricultural farm where regional products are crafted.

Itinerary

Your adventure begins at 7 am with a pickup from your accommodation in Armenia. A drive will take us to the town of Marsella, which was initially named "Villa Rica de Segovia".

During the journey, you'll pass through the scenic landscapes filled with vast coffee plantations situated in the Cauca River valley. Upon arrival in Marsella, a warm welcome awaits at a local agricultural farm, where you'll enjoy a delightful snack of patacones con hogao—a savory dish of twice-fried plantain complemented by a traditional onion and tomato sauce made from farm-fresh ingredients.

Your exploration will continue with a captivating tour of the cacao plantations and fruit orchards, where you may even sample some of the ripe fruits. Following this, participate in an organic chocolate-making workshop, where you'll have the chance to extract, roast, and grind cocoa beans by hand.

After allowing our chocolate mixture to cool, we will create a delicious cocoa drink that pairs perfectly with the traditional lunch featuring sancocho, crafted with chicken and vegetables sourced directly from the farm.

Post-lunch, we'll take a short drive to the village square where you can savor a warm cup of Colombian coffee. A leisurely walk around Marsella will follow, showcasing its iconic landmarks, such as the Mary Immaculate Church and the House of Culture, which houses a National Heritage museum.

Finally, we will visit the Botanical Garden and the José María Cemetery, before concluding our day with a return to your hotel in Armenia, arriving at approximately 4:30 pm.
