Set off from Armenia on an adventure to one of the most important nature reserves in this part of Colombia on our hike around the Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary. We'll go on an unforgettable hiking route around this beautiful place.
Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary Hike
Having picked you up from your hotel in Armenia at 8 am, we'll set off northbound for the Otún Quimbaya Flora and Fauna Sanctuary.
After driving for 1 hour 30 minutes, we'll arrive at this nature reserve nestled in the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes. This space is dedicated to the conservation of a variety of species, some in danger of extinction, that thrive in its ecosystems.
Upon arrival, we'll begin a 1.2-mile (2-kilometre) hike through the Andean rainforest. The hike, which is of low difficulty, allows for observation of various birds, including moustached antpittas, multicoloured tanagers, and torrent ducks, as well as other endemic species.
Additionally, we'll encounter mammals such as monkeys, silver foxes, tapirs, and pacaranas. This sanctuary ensures that these animals have a protected habitat.
During our walk, we'll stop for a traditional local lunch consisting of one course and a drink. After eating, we'll continue our immersion in the area's nature.
We'll then return to Armenia and drop you off at your hotel at 3 pm.
