Pereira & Banana Plantation Experience
Your adventure begins at 8 am with a pick-up from your hotel in Armenia as we set off towards Pereira, located approximately 28 miles (45 kilometers) away.
Following an hour's drive, we will reach the outskirts of Pereira and make a stop at its famed pineapple plantations, providing an insight into the agricultural traditions of the Risaralda region.
Next, we'll have the opportunity to enjoy a tasting of arepas de choclo, these tasty corn tortillas typically served with a unique sauce.
Our exploration continues in the bustling city center of Pereira, where we will visit iconic sites including the César Gaviria Viaduct, Simón Bolívar Square, and the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Pobreza. You'll also gain knowledge about the fascinating history behind the town's name.
The journey will lead us to a banana farm, where you’ll discover the complete banana cultivation process, from planting to harvesting. Did you know that Colombia ranks as the fifth largest banana exporter globally?
