On our Tenerife Snorkelling & Sea Turtle Watching activity, we'll explore the marine ecosystem around the island and observe sea turtles.
Description
At 9 am, we'll meet at the Port of Las Galletas and board a Zodiac-type boat. The boat will take us to an area suitable for snorkeling and observing sea turtles. We will pass by the Malpais de Rasca, a protected nature reserve with a remarkable volcanic landscape that we can admire from the sea. After an expert instructor provides tips on moving smoothly in the water, we will put on our snorkelling gear and enter the Atlantic Ocean.
Keep an eye out for the loggerhead and green turtles swimming in the water. These animals can grow to over 3 feet long (1 metre). Additionally, we may encounter shoals of white seabream, bogas, and other fish species common in Tenerife's seabed.
We will return to the starting point by around 11 am.
Sea Turtle Watching
The coast of Tenerife is one of the premier locations in the Canary Islands for spotting sea turtles. However, as these are wild animals, sightings cannot be guaranteed, despite a high probability. The activity is conducted with respect for the animals, ensuring small group sizes and consideration for the marine environment.
