During the Tenerife Snorkelling & Sea Turtle Watching experience, participants will immerse themselves in the rich marine life that surrounds the island, gaining insight into the behavior of remarkable ocean creatures.
Description
Our adventure begins at 9 am with a gathering at the Port of Las Galletas, where we will board a Zodiac-style vessel. This boat will transport us to a prime snorkeling location where sea turtles can be observed.
As we navigate past the Malpais de Rasca, a protected natural area renowned for its stunning volcanic scenery, we will have the chance to enjoy this breathtaking sight from the water. Following a briefing from a knowledgeable instructor on effective movement techniques in the ocean, we will don our snorkeling equipment and plunge into the inviting Atlantic waters.
Be on the lookout for the graceful loggerhead and green turtles gliding beneath the surface! These magnificent beings can reach lengths exceeding 3 feet (1 meter), offering potentially close-up encounters!
Throughout the snorkeling session, there's a good chance of encountering schools of white seabream, bogas, and various other fish species that thrive in the stunning underwater landscapes of Tenerife.
Our excursion will conclude with a return to the port, estimated to be around 11 am.
Sea Turtle Watching
The coastline of Tenerife stands out as one of the prime locations in the Canary Islands for observing sea turtles. Nevertheless, wildlife can be unpredictable. Despite a high likelihood of sighting these turtles, total assurance cannot be provided as they are, by nature, wild animals.
This activity is structured to ensure respect for the creatures involved, featuring small group sizes and a focus on the preservation of the marine environment.
