Timanfaya & Jameos del Agua Excursion
The adventure begins with your hotel pickup, as we set off to explore the western regions of the island.
Our first stop will be at El Golfo, a picturesque volcanic site where we will discover the Charco de los Clicos, also known as "The Green Lake." This lake's vibrant hue is due to the algae and sulfur present in its waters, captivating many visitors, including filmmaker Pedro Almodovar, who used this location for a key scene in his movie "Los Abrazos Rotos" (Broken Embraces) featuring Penelope Cruz.
From there, we will proceed to Timanfaya National Park. You will witness the park's otherworldly landscapes, dotted with volcanic craters. The raw power of nature here is truly remarkable, and we will experience it firsthand through engaging demonstrations involving the park's geysers. For those interested, optional camel rides are available for an additional fee on the day of the tour.
After our exploration of the park, we will make our way to Mancha Blanca, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a meal at a local Canarian restaurant. While there, you can visit the Iglesia de los Dolores, home to the island’s patron saint. Post-lunch, we will travel through scenic villages towards the island's northern part, showcasing the beautiful Valle de las Mil Palmeras and the quaint town of Haría.
One of the tour's highlights will follow as we visit the masterpiece of renowned architect and artist César Manrique: the Jameos del Agua. This unique site, formed within a volcanic tunnel, serves as an auditorium, restaurant, and swimming pool. In this natural setting, you’ll also discover a lake that provides a habitat for the fascinating blind crabs.
After exploring Jameos del Agua, we will head back to the hotel areas, completing our day trip approximately 8 to 10 hours after the initial pickup.
